In the Ötztal ski paradise for early starters, endurance athletes and après-ski freaks, winter lasts for three whole seasons
Sölden is top notch:
Board fans can enjoy their turns on the glacier slopes as early as September. And a month later, you can also take off in the fun areas at the edge of the slopes: At the “First Snow Glacier Start” in mid-October, at the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup kick-off and then almost every autumn, winter and spring weekend until the beginning of May.
Ski swing in the eternal ice
On the two glaciers high above the ski village in the rear Ötztal, the white season begins at the beginning of September, when the forests and meadows down in the valley are just beginning to glow in the most beautiful yellow, rust and red tones of autumn. The highest panorama road in the Eastern Alps takes skiers and snowboarders by car or bus from Sölden to Tiefenbach - and to the Rettenbach Glacier, one of the largest glacier ski areas in Austria. The two ice giants are connected by a road tunnel and a ski tunnel to form the only glacier ski swing in the Alps. 36 kilometers of slopes and 10 lifts with a transport capacity of almost 20,000 people per hour guarantee beginners and experts unlimited skiing pleasure. The European test and exhibition center on the Rettenbach glacier also makes Sölden the only glacier ski area where the latest products from all leading winter sports goods manufacturers can be tested from September to November.
